As everyone was trying to figure out why they are unable to send or receive WhatsApp messages. A one Galandi Shafiq commonly known as @Source Garland was ahead of everyone as he predicted this two days before it happened.

On 2nd, October, 2021 @Source Garland tweeted saying that WhatsApp server will be off and no WhatsApp mode will be working in two days. He made a simple and factual tweet like someone who was sure of what he was saying. But like any other person he was taken as a someone trying to enjoy their leisure time on social media which is indeed the case. On happening, this left everyone wondering how he managed to see what was behind a mountain that he has never climbed.

“WhatsApp will be off in two days” he wrote.

In an interview with Times Uganda Galandi was asked how he came to know about this and he responded saying it was one of his bad jokes. Though in the end what he calls a joke became real.

“Well, sometimes I write things out of curiosity, and that day was one of the times. People thought it was some kind of a joke. It pushed me to delete it so as to avoid the unnecessary notifications. But I happen to follow Zak doffman’s articles a cyber security specialist I started following because I wanted to keep my social media platforms safe from being hacked most especially Twitter. There are very many articles he has been writing about WhatsApp experiencing security breach problems. So on 2nd.oct.2021 I just drafted the tweet and honestly I wasn’t so sure about what was going to happen.” he said.

Additionally, basing on the tweets about WhatsApp, this has affected people worldwide. This is because it’s not only Ugandans finding a problem with using WhatsApp but people from different places.

However, the bright side of the story is that the management was quick to respond to people’s cries on twitter.

“We are aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We are working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible.” Thanks for your patience. The management responded through their WhatsApp handler.

It should be noted that it’s not only WhatsApp that is affected but also Facebook and Instagram. The users are finding it hard to use the apps.
