Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was extremely excited after his daughter Aaliyah Ssanyu
Lukwago excelled in the recently released Uganda Certificate of Examinations 2020/21.
Aaliyah Ssanyu was in position to score aggregate 11 which her father described as a
performance that brought smiles upon their faces despite the strenuous conditions under
which she did her examinations.
“Glad that our daughter, AALIYAH SSANYU LUKWAGO has brought a smile on my face for her
good performance (Agg. 11 in 8) under strenuous circumstances. Praise be to God,” read the
politics’ post on his Twitter handle.
Erias Lukwago daughter Aaliyah Ssanyu, just like all the candidates that were meant to sit for their National Examinations during the year 2020 were faced with extremely unique and challenging situations thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hardly had the school year started that they were forced back to the confines of their parents’
homes so as to implement the mandatory self quarantine programmed to limit on the spread of
the deadly virus.
A lockdown that was meant to last 21 days turned into months and it’s greed could not help but
drive into consuming nearly the entire academic year and study time students were meant to
have used to prepare adequately for their examinations.
At the time, all fingers pointed towards virtue classes so students had to resort to studying
through radio, television and for others platforms over the internet such as zoom, google meet
or through podcasts.
Despite all these challenges, the students were in position to make it and produce exceptional
results that out smiles in each and everyone’s face at the end of the day.
Congratulations to Erias Lukwago daughter Aaliyah Ssanyu and all the candidates who sat for their lower secondary level examinations last year but were still in position to perform tremendously despite the presence of the pandemic.
