- While addressing the media, NWSC boss Eng. Silver Mugisha arrogantly asked Ugandans that can not afford buying clean water to go and start using lake and swamp water
Ugandans have been responded to, the trashy way by the National Water and Sewerage Cooperation boss, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha. While addressing the media, Eng. Silver Mugisha arrogantly asked Ugandans that can not afford buying clean water to go and start using water from swamps.
In his statement, while responding to those that are shouting about hiked water bills, he advised them to use swamp water and lakes. That is if they want free water, and he he said that as long as one wants water with added value, he/she should swallow it and pay for it.
Ugandans have made an outcry about the super hiked water bills, but all have fallen on deaf ears, the government seems to be busy handling Covid-19. And Ugandans are not happy about Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha arrogance as well.
It should be known that, as of 1st April 2020, the water unit was buying 3,516 Uganda shillings (domestic tariff) or home usage. Then 4,220 Uganda shillings (commercial tariff) for industrial use. And a water unit has 1000 litres of water which is equivalent to 50 jerrycans of water, according to National Water and Sewerage Cooperation.
Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha is the Managing Director of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Uganda – one of the well performing water utilities in Africa. Mugisha has over 20 years experience in water utility operations, international policy, research and advisory services.
